A pass in Higher Secondary Examination of the state or an Examination accepted by the University as equivalent thereto. Those who have Afsal Ul Ulama (Preliminary) (Regular) certificate from Calicut University are also eligible.

B.A English/ Functional English as Core Course/ Part III excluding subsidiaries with not less than 45% marks or equivalent GPA excluding subsidiaries/Complimentary Courses or B.A./B.Sc. with English as Common Course with not less than 45% marks or equivalent GPA in Common Course. Weightage of 10% of marks or GPA shall be given to the candidates who have studied English as optional. A weightage of 5% shall be given to candidates who have studied Functional English. Candidates those who have passed LRP Programmes like BBM, BBA, B.Com and B Sc. etc are not eligible for M A English Programme.
